Tamworth Regional Skate Park
A guaranteed hit with the cool kids and another great way to tire them out! The Tamworth Regional Skate Park is a state-of-the-art facility that caters to all abilities, boasting its own “learn to ride” space for those still finding their balance.
Some more recent additions to the park include the Pump Track and The Deck Café, meaning you can sit back and relax while the kids get active and adventurous. Further construction has also been completed bringing a 95m pump track (for scooters and bikes), a half-court basketball court and a climbing wall to the park area.
Tamworth Miniature Railway and Botanical Garden
Choo Choo Choo, have we got the best spot for you… and the kids!
Situated in Tamworth’s scenic Victoria Park, the Tamworth Miniature Railway features two 600-metre dual-gauge tracks, a four-platform station, ticket office and 10 metre tunnel. It’s one stop not to be missed! The Picnic Pavilion provides undercover and outdoor tables with barbeque facilities available meaning a sausage sizzle or BYO picnic is most welcome. The trains run every third Sunday in the month, so be sure to check your calendar when you visit.
The adjacent Botanical Gardens are spread across 28 hectares and have a whole range of sights and delights. Stunning garden displays, the bush chapel, ponds, lookouts, walking tracks and an indoor Indigenous artefact exhibition are just some of the highlights.

Want to get a “wow” from the kids? Then Tamworth’s astronomy and science complex is the place for you!
We have all spent a few nights of our childhood looking up at the stars, so why not take the chance to look a little closer? The Astronomy Centre houses three observatories, features a roll-off roof and is home to one of the largest privately-owned telescopes in Australia.
There is a 6.7 metre domed observatory which doubles as a planetarium theatre for simulated night sky views and amazing audio-visual experiences to truly amaze young and older minds alike. The centre boasts extensive displays of meteorites, minerals, megafauna, astronomical images and an array of other scientific items.
