Discover our region’s rich heritage during the Tamworth Regional Heritage Festival from Friday 19 April to Sunday 28 April.
Local historians, heritage and cultural groups will share the stories that have shaped our community through exhibitions, cultural displays, demonstrations and walks across our region. Watch the mighty John Fowler steam engines in action at the Tamworth Powerstation Museum, connect with Australia’s wool heritage at the award-winning Nundle Woollen Mill, be fascinated by the historical memorabilia and archives at the Manilla Heritage Museum and Machinery Shed, and discover Tamworth’s history along the Memories from Marius Street Walk with the Tamworth Historical Society Heritage Walk.
You can also hear some tales about Australia’s country music history with multi-Golden Guitar award winner, Pixie Jenkins at the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame, and join the Tamworth Regional Film And Sound Archive to be one of the first to see Electric Lamp Manufacturers documentary with footage on site in Newcastle’s Hamilton North just before it’s closure in early 2002.
There are over stacks of events and exhibitions throughout the 10-day festival, with things to see in Manilla, Moonbi, Nundle and Tamworth.
