Wendy McCarthy has strong connections with the New England area, having attended Tamworth High and the University of New England in Armidale. Educator, activist, agent of change – Wendy McCarthy AO is a businesswoman, activist, author and former university chancellor. Her numerous professional associations span the public and private sectors and international aid.
Wendy began her career as a secondary school teacher and went on to become Deputy Chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Chancellor of the University of Canberra and since moving into public life she has been working for change across the public, private and community sectors, in education, family planning, human rights, public health, overseas aid and development, conservation, heritage, and media.
