Join this masterclass with leading Australian artist and ceramicist Glenn Barkley and create your own ceramic cup vessel.
This workshop will focus on ceramic techniques and processes, with participants having the opportunity to make a small vessel or sculptural object whilst learning simple hand-building and mould making techniques. Glenn will demonstrate the use of sprig and press moulds (low relief sculptural moulds), as well as showing participants how to make their own simple sprig mould. Participants are encouraged to bring along texture objects to create their own spring molds – for example seeds, shell, jewellery etc.
This program celebrates Glenn Barkley’s inclusion as part of ‘SIXTY: The Journal of Australian Ceramics 60th Anniversary 1962-2022’ – an Australian Design Centre National Touring Exhibition. Glenn is an artist, writer, curator, and gardener based in Sydney and Berry NSW, Australia. His work operates in the space between these interests, drawing upon the history of ceramics, popular song, the garden and conversations about art and the internet.
The four-hour workshop will include a break, and light refreshments will be provided.
