We will hear expert insights from two highly respected local health and medical professionals:
Dr Callum Fealy: Dr. Callum Fealy, FRACGP, MBBS, JCCA, BA Med Sci (Pharm), will be joining us from “Gwydir Medical” in Moree. As a member of the Australasian Menopause Society (AMS), Dr. Fealy specializes in menopause and perimenopause, offering the latest medical insights and treatment options.
Emma Shaw: Meet Emma Shaw, an APA-titled Continence and Women’s Health Physiotherapist, based right here in Tamworth. She works part-time at PhysioSpec Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation, of which she is also the Director. Outside of this she is juggling family life with her fiancé and two young boys. Emma is a local from Quirindi who grew up here and decided to return to her roots after completing her studies in 2015. Women’s Health Physiotherapy has always been of interest to her and providing such a specific skillset for rural women to access is something she endeavours to continue to provide to the region.
Why Attend? This event coincides with World Continence Week 2024, underscoring the importance of raising awareness about pelvic health. Whether you’re seeking information for yourself or looking to support a loved one, this talk aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and resources needed to reclaim their quality of life.
CWA Tamworth Evening Branch is acutely aware of how issues relating to menopause, pelvic health and continence can have a substantial impact on people’s lives. We completed a submission to the Senate Inquiry into Menopause & Perimenopause that is currently underway. Studies show that this is an underacknowledged stressful period in women’s lives and does lead to women exiting the work force due to the daily effects it can have.
