The Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club Inc (TRAC) will be conducting a public viewing night on the evening of Tuesday, 17th September, 2024 from 6.00 pm at the Astronomy and Science Centre (A&SC), Victoria Park, Top End of Piper Street, Tamworth, for the “Moon and Saturn Close Conjunction”. Join with members of TRAC to witness this amazing celestial event with telescope viewing and live projections of the Moon & Saturn on the Club’s big screens.
The conjunction will be visible from dusk for an hour or so. Members will have several telescopes available for viewing along with the very large (34in) Hewitt Camera/telescope. We will be conducting tours of the Centre, running several talks in the auditorium and TRAC members will be available to answer questions. There will also be the opportunity to view ‘deep-sky’ celestial objects such as nebulas, star clusters and galaxies through the Club’s telescopes. Our Minerals & Fossils Group will have a range of activities and projections running also.
Registering for tickets online to this event is essential – Limited Numbers. CLICK HERE.
(Entry fee will be collected at the event – $10 per Adult, School Students & Members Free).
In the event of poor weather, an alternative program will be in place for the night.
