Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club Inc (TRAC) will be conducting a public night ‘the Rosetta Mission & Comets’ on Sat 5th March 2022 from 6.00 pm at the Astronomy and Science Centre (AASC), Victoria Park, Piper Street, Tamworth.
Our Guest Speaker, Warwick Holmes, Director of Space Engineering at University of Sydney, previously spent some 29 yrs with the European Space Agency (ESA) including building some 10 successful ESA spacecraft including the Rosetta Mission to comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. Warwick and TRAC comet hunter, Chris Wyatt, will be making an artificial comet to demonstrate the properties of these amazing deep space travellers. There will also be the opportunity to view Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko through TRAC’s telescopes.

A limited number of tickets are available to the Public @ $10 p.p. and free for children 16 years of age and under.
Tickets for TRAC members are Free. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The number of attendees will be limited to 120 and wearing of masks indoors will be encouraged to help ensure a COVID safe event.

7:00 pm – Presentation by Warwick Holmes followed by comet making demonstration with Chris Wyatt
8:45 pm – Telescope viewing of comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko and other celestial objects (weather permitting)
