Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club’s Monthly Meeting, Presentation and Viewing Night

6 July @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

6.00 pm – Social: Tea/Coffee/Biscuits/Drinks Available (Note; No food stall tonight)

7.00 pm – Presentation: by Peter Grono – “An Introduction to the Geological Time Scale part 2 of 2, covering Mesozoic and Cenozoic”

Background – Hi I’m Pete, a local amateur scientist deeply passionate about biology and history. My expertise centers on studying fossils and unraveling the complexities of the geological timescale, piecing together the story of life’s evolution with limitless curiosity and enthusiasm.

8.00 pm – Telescope Viewing: (weather cooperating..!!!) (No Moon)

Whats in the Sky??   We’ll have various optical viewing Telescopes and the 34 in Hewitt Camera looking at Galaxies, Nebula, Clusters, Comets etc. Milky Way with lots of Globular Clusters.

Sombrero, Sthrn Pin Wheel & Centaurus A Galaxies rising in the East. The Tarantula & Eta Carina Nebula are well positioned and the brilliant nebula like the Eagle & Trifid becoming visible.  

Comet 12p/Pons-brooks is still visible heading outward and Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) is heading in from the Oort cloud at about Mag 9.8, with perihelion on 27th September 2024.
