Kamilaroi/Gomeroi man Roger Knox will return to perform a free concert at the Tamworth Regional Gallery as part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Known as the ‘Black Elvis’, country music legend, Uncle Roger Knox is a commanding presence in the First Nations country music community. He was influenced by Slim Dusty and First Nations country singers Col Hardy and Jimmy Little, and joined Brian Young’s first national tour in 1981 that crisscrossed Australia by light plane. Roger survived two airplane crashes and was severely burned, before recovering and launching the First Nations music boom of the 1980s with the Euraba Band.
