Seeking a tree change the Sydenham family purchased Arc-en-Ciel Trout Farm in 2006. By improving the farm infrastructure they now produce trout and smoked meat products and have a café. Sticking to their aim “striving for excellence” they have won many prized medals for their products, both for their trout and Nundle Smokehouse lines. They are most proud of Champion Trout Product award in 2017 from the Sydney Royal Fine Food Awards competition.
The business is undergoing major refurbishment of the aquaculture and processing facilities following a successful application for a Grant from the NSW Government’s Bushfire Recovery Sector Development Program, scheduled for completion by end 2023.
The Drunken Trout Cafe was opened in 2019 to diversify farm income. It provides visitors a tranquil get-away where they can experience their award winning products and impressive scenery. They have seating indoors for 30 and a further 20 on the veranda and newly opened garden deck. The venue is also available for bus tours of which the Lunch and Tour package is the most popular. The venue is a great place for anniversary celebrations or birthday lunches. The Drunken Trout Cafe is available for hire as a meeting or special occasion venue.
Nundle Smokehouse was established after upgrading our smokehouse equipment and now produce Beef, Venison and Poultry lines including Biltong – South African version of Jerky.
